Dr Michiel Spanjaart was a lawyer (and partner) at our firm between 2010 and 2018. He now has his own law firm, Trains & Co, but is still associated with Kneppelhout as ‘of counsel’. Michiel was previously a partner at Padberg Spanjaart Advocaten and before that at DLA Piper. His practice area includes trade, transport and insurance law. His research interests focus on maritime law and (multimodal) transport.

Michiel lectures at Erasmus University, he is editor of Schip & Schade and a deputy judge at the Amsterdam Court of Appeal. He is also a fellow at the Centre for Maritime Law at the National University of Singapore.
